All children in Years R-2 are entitled to a free school lunch. If your child is in Years 3-6 and would like to have a school lunch, these are charged at £2.70 per day (from September 2023). This must be paid online via Arbor

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR CHILD WISHES TO STOP HAVING SCHOOL LUNCHES, AT LEAST TWO WEEKS' NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN IN WRITING TO Mrs Brown BY EMAILING info@sendcofe.co.uk

Nut-Free Schools

Although we recognise that this cannot be guaranteed, we aim to be a Nut-Free school.

People who suffer from nut allergies can develop a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. If someone has a nut allergy it is not just eating nuts that can cause a severe reaction, just being touched on the skin or smelling the breath of someone who has eaten or touched nuts or a product containing nuts can trigger anaphylactic shock (which can cause breathing and swallowing difficulties).

We want to reduce the risk to those children and adults who may suffer an anaphylactic reaction if exposed to nuts to which they are sensitive. The school aims to protect children who have allergies to nuts yet also help them, as they grow up, to take responsibility as to what foods they can eat and to be aware of where they may be put at risk.

We have a number of children in school with severe nut allergies in school so must insist that for their safety, Send CofE is a nut free school.

Our “Nut Free Policy” means that we do not use nuts in any of our food prepared on site at our school. Our suppliers provide us with nut-free products. We also do not allow nuts or nut products in school lunch boxes. This includes all the nuts, seeds and beans featured in the image and the  following items should not be brought into school:

  • Packs of nuts
  • Peanut butter or Nutella/ Hazelnut chocolate spread sandwiches
  • Fruit and cereal bars that contain nuts
  • Chocolate bars or sweets that contain nuts
  • Cookies or cakes which contain nuts
  • Peanut butter cakes
  • Some Asian food, including satay
  • Sauces that contain nuts

This list is not exhaustive, so please check the packaging of products closely. We appreciate that this is an additional thing to check and we know that you recognise the importance of it. We know if this was your child you would expect that we all play our part, especially as this can be a life-threatening condition.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff

Thank you for your support in helping to keep the children safe
